Hello Twelve Year Society,
This is Bobbie Flynn-Ward. My brother, Charles "Tootsie" Flynn and I both attended Melrose for 12 years. We bleed Maroon and Gold!:) Tootsie graduated 1964 and was the first class to graduate in the new auditorium. I graduated in '66. It was a step up from the GYM. Calling all "ORANGE MOUND" ALUMNI...ALL mostly 12 Year hardcore GOLDEN WILDCATS...let's kick it up a notch!!:):)

Great to see the 12 Year Society. I believe my class of 1970 was the last one. I think my picture is in the 1970 yearbook. I seem to remember it being taken on the Dallas side of the auditorium near Park Avenue. Soooo long ago yet still fresh. Mrs. Jefferies was also my 1st grade teacher. I agree with Larry Perkins (Speedy?), the continuity that comes from that type of educational environment is sorely missed in our schools today.

I was a 12 year society member with the class of 1970 . My 1st grade teacher was Mrs. Jefferys . I wish the school system were more like the environment we were exposed to during our 12 years , more concern and discipline with less violence .

Yes, I am a proud member of the 12 year society. I was not able to take a picture with the class of 1970 because, I was participating in the ROTC inspection at the same time that day. That really hurt my feelings, because I had been looking forward to being in the group picture during my senior year. My 1st grade teacher was the dynamic Ms. Peggy Harris and 2nd grade Mrs. Billie Clay Davis. Those were my role models.

I am a member of the 12 year society. I spend my 12 years at 843 Dallas. I love my school.

I was a member, but I missed getting my picture in the yearbook. We don't see schools like Melrose any more. The togetherness is not there any more. It's all about the individual and the dollar. Sad as it seems, I have hope things are about to change. I believe the people are about to revolt and make the changes that need to be made!!!
