I graduated from Melrose in May 1974, in July of 1974 I enlisted in the U.S. Navy with two other Melrose Golden Wildcats. After Bootcamp two us was sent to different duty stations and one decided to get out. My first assignment was on board the USS Horne CG-30, Flag Ship for the Navys second Black Admiral, Gerald Thomas. This afforded me the opportunity to visit twelve (12) different countries. In 1975 on board the USS Horne I was meritoriouly promoted to Postal Clerk Third Class. In July of 1976, I was assigned as Accountable Postal clerk on Board the USS Halsey CG-23 , while on board the USS Halsey I was promoted to Postal Clerk second class and two years later I decided to end my enlistment.

1987 until present Currently serving in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Master Chief Petty Officer. Most of my time serving in the Navy has been with the motivated United States Marines. It has been a great 22 years so far and I am enjoying every minute of it even with tours to Iraq and Afghan.
