It's time for us to GROW UP!!!
warning: this may sting a little.
Without a doubt, probably the number one problem in our churches is immaturity. I have been around the Lord’s children for quite a bit now, and the fact of the matter is we need to grow up. The church has a habit of acting immature. We get ourselves into all kinds of problems by saying immature things, making immature decisions, acting in immature ways. We just need to grow up.
God's will for every person is that they gro…

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2Peter 1:8-10
My heart is heavy. I feel a…

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Now that I have your attention this is not about material wealth but spiritual wealth. I bet your eyes were bi…

We did it!!! The debut of the Melrose High School Golden Wildcats Alumni Marching Band. We did great even though we were small. I'm so very proud of you!!!
We are going to keep this alive by forming a Band Boosters' Club to work with current band parents and those who are already working with the band. I will let you know when. It should be soon.
Again I say, "Thanks!" It took quite a bit of time and much effort, but we persevered and kept the faith.
May God bless you all!!!

Most people don't enjoy life; they just endure it. They don't enjoy happiness. We think that life must be perfect for us to be happy. If I could just change my situation life would be great. If I could just get rid of all my problems... But there's no such thing as a problem free life. If you're going to learn to be happy, joyful, you must learn to be joyful in the situation, in the problems, in the very experiences of life." Happiness" comes from the word "happenstance" from which we get the wo…

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40
Why so much discord among those who call themselves Christians? Why is there so much division in the church? Could it be that the One in whom we choose to w…

Gen. 22:1 “And the Lord tested Abraham”
Did you realize that God is testing you every moment of your life? Every moment of the day your faith is being tested. In fact all this past week it was tested and all this next week your faith is going to be tested. Every day you have faith building opportunities. The problem is most of us don’t recognize them when they’re there. We flunk the test because we don’t even realize it is a test and that God is trying to help us grow. If you are like me…

The all-time greatest leader ever is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just looked at what Jesus accomplished through His leadership. The organization
(Church) that Jesus founded is the most successful of all time. His leadership fruit has brought abought longevity
(two thousand years and counting), wealth
(beyound calculation), and loyalty (
many are still devoting their lives to Him). I believe if we as leaders of Christ will adopt the lea…

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things. Isaiah 59:3
You have the right to remain silent (and I suggest that you do). Everything you say can and will be used against you. Reader, I know you are saying, “Norma, you’ve got the wrong one. I have not committed a…

Forgiveness (- Matthew 18:21-35 )
For many people forgiveness is one of the hardest steps of all in our progress toward freedom of spirit. Yet it is essential. For as long as we are unable to forgive, we keep ourselves chained to the unforgiven. We give them rent-free space in our minds, emotional shackles on our hearts, and the right to torment us in the small hours of the night. When it is time to move on, we can’t because we are stuck in the rut of not forgiving. Understand that forgiving…

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
How many times have we read and said verse 6 of the 23rd Psalm? Have you really thought about what it says? Let’s break it down and look closely at what David is telling us. He opens the statement with the word ‘surely.’ Webster defines surely as certainly; assuredly; safely and firmly. This lets us know that the state…

Oh, God you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. (Psalm 63:1)
Desert seasons will surely come. If you have followed the Lord for any length of time, you have most likely already experienced the desert, some of you are in a desert; if neither, get ready because you are about to go into one.
A desert of the soul can be either a season when the heat is turned up in your life, or when your…

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
How much do you know about sheep? I mean the nature of, physical features and its temperament? When you think…

What Kind of Runner are you?
Hebrews 12:1-2a says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witness, let us lay aside every weight, and sin that so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
There is an event that the Lord has ordained us all to participate in. This event is simply called a race. Paul tells us that this race has been set before us. That means that the…
